Throughout my life I have always nurtured a love of art. I developed my drawing and painting skills from an early age encouraged by my father. This continued during my working life as a research chemist. My science background was key to an enquiring mind and I always like to look beyond the ‘here and now’.
Moving to Cornwall in 2014 was a great step forward in my life. I was drawn there by the intense light and wild landscapes, reminiscent of my childhood in the Peak District and brimming with the reflective and positive energy I needed.
My walks along the beaches and coast paths armed with paints and sketchbook proved invaluable in the development of my paintings. Working mainly with oil paint but also acrylic and watercolour I have attempted to capture the spiritual essence of the Cornish landscape.
My work has been exhibited in St Ives and West Sussex and is part of several private collections.
I was pleased to be recently accepted into the Taking Space group. I hope to grow and flourish there by taking an active part in a really welcoming and dynamic group of artists.
