Colour and texture are the key qualities found in my art. I am primarily an oil painter but also produce piqueassiette mosaics and textile pictures.

The way I paint is often considered quite unorthodox and may in part be due to the fact that I am completely self taught. I use my fingers to lay in coloured grounds and l subsequent layers of paint, before using palette knives and random objects to incise the paint.

Subjects are the beautiful Cornish land and seascape. I travel everywhere with sketchbooks using both watercolours and charcoals to take notes.

My mosaics and textile works reflect my love of the natural world while still emphasizing colour and relief. There is nothing more satisfying than recycling vintage fabrics and china to create something new and contemporary.

I joined Taking Space early in 2020 and enjoy meeting other artists passionate about their work.
